Catherine “Mickey” Hill is Master Moderator and Founder at Advanced Insights, a custom market research boutique based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has 30+ years of experience in market research design and implementation, as well as brand/marketing strategy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Cincinnati. A lifelong learner, she has completed several business/professional development programs, is semi-fluent in Spanish and is currently learning French. A former competitive swimmer, she enjoys surfing, SUP and SCUBA. Mickey is widely regarded for her strategic vision and ability to harvest customer-driven insights, especially among African Americans. She often works with companies seeking to better understand how to position their products or services, develop new audiences or how to bring forth an innovation or new technology. She is also experienced in facilitating user-centered research; knows how to reveal and explore the user experience, is capable of surfacing technology/device and/or design issues, and is very adept at spotting patterns, trends, and meaningful nuances. Her scope of work for both enterprise and consumer research encompasses a diverse array of categories which include: Internet-based products and services, computer hardware and software, mobile devices, consumer electronics, telecommunications, automotive, and consumer packaged goods to name a few. She has conducted global research with IT professionals to help Cisco Systems explore a new interface and customer features on its website. She has also facilitated numerous software and packaging design studies (Microsoft and Adobe) among IT professionals.
